They weigh between 200 and 350 lbs...usually will have $2.00 in Aluminum and about $3.00 to $7.00 in copper
Depends on the age and style
The old one's are awesome with the entire freezer cavity solid aluminum and at todays prices about $12.00 worth of copper. I usually will snip out the compressor and strip the goodies and have no problems in the past unloading at the yard.
The make nice added weight and are easily positioned on a truck or trailer.
"It is the nature of the human species to reject what is true but unpleasant and to embrace what is obviously false but comforting"
" The average man doesn't want to be free. He wants to be safe."
The only time that I dont take off the goodies is when I know there is lots of old food inside. We take them out of our rentals sometimes, knowing the power has been off for a while.
And if the doors still have a good seal, you can also add more weight to them by putting some of your smaller pieces of metal inside. I will cut open the compressors to get at the copper windings inside, the will load the cut shells into a refrigerator, washer or dryer. The yard I go to has a large hydraulic claw that unloads all the heavy items brought in, so that way I do not have to throw out so much small stuff out of my trailer. I will turn a 100 dryer into over 200 lbs of weight by the smaller pieces of metal I toss inside.
