Wow, "close your account", really?!?

I have never even heard that! The you cost us money part, sure, but "close your account"... !!!

I wonder if they will "solidify" their position in writing?

That's a shame brother, you know what they say about one door closing and another opens.

Good response. Then ask for a list of members on the Board of Directors so you can share this letter with them. Better yet when she gives you the letter take it to your local newspaper. Let her know you will be forwarding a copy to the National creit union of america association. I don't believe they can do this a little thing called DISCRIMINATION. Share your results as you may have precedence setting circumstance. Credit unions are Federally insured.

Tell them that as long as the counter is in their lobby it is open to ALL customers that have an account with them. And most places that have coin counters open to the public don't even require that you have an account with them. If they want to place restrictions on the dollar amount you can dump it will have to apply to all customers. Or if the machine is costing them so much money they should take it out. And until they do give it to you in writing that they don't want you using the coin counter anymore and would like you to close your account I would keep on dumping. And if they were foolish enough to give that to you in writing boy would I have fun with that.

COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!

SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested.

You should beg them to put their position in writing, you could HAVE A FIELD DAY with that! Wheeler is right, you might be able to establish a precedence here for all of us out there. Stick it to 'em, keep the dumping coming :)

you know, in thinking about this, the employee has the CU's best interests in mind but is going about it the wrong way. If you are costing them more than they make off of you, it would be reasonable for them to limit the things which you do which costs them money. but the extent to which that is reasonable depends on how much business you do with them. and it was certainly not the right way to go about it.

"Close your account"!?!?!? OUCH! I can see putting a monthly or weekly limit for all customers but CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT? Make sure they don't get away with this for your sake and the sake of other like-minded coin-sorters!

why are people such asses about it.....I just got told by a manager who does the chang e orders at my place of work,;
"Chef,
I can no longer supply you with pennies. If there is an issue with the transactions I do not want to be in the middle.
Eddie" ,
I dont get what the issue would be, I asked him to add $50.oo in pennies to his change order and brought him $50. in currency to trade (once weekly). I dump at my cu, so its not that I was asking him to recycle the zinc.....

humor a semi-noob (i've probably graduated from full-on noob): how does dumping $40 of zinc into the coin-counter cost them money?

my credit union, and granted my situation is probably different as i've been a member for 14 years and have a car loan through them, is all about giving me pennies. they don't care if i 'dump' there and pickup literally with the receipt from the dump.

i'm only doing between $50-100 at a time, but still..

I am lucky actually The bank I use is also the bank my company has been using for the past 20 years or so. They have become to know me pretty well as I do all the banking and visit 3 times a week. When I cash my check I always get at least $50 in cents. Today I was very lucky, one of the tellers knows I am a collector, and saved me somebody stash sale. 10 Mint rolls of 2003 state quarters P's and D's, 8 Mint rolls of 2003 Sacajawea P's and D's, and 2 Mint rolls of 2003 Kennedy halfs P and D. Not sure how much they're worth but I know I can get enough over face for 'em.
