I have a 1958 nickel its weird because there is stripes going through it. they are very light but easy to see.. i was just wondering if anyone know what that means. thank you
Welcome to the forum! This is a great place! Are the stripes part of the coin or are the stripes "on" the coin and not actually part of it? And if they are part of the coin, are the stripes "going in" to the coin or "coming out" of it?
Also when it comes to odd coins that if you could do it at home, like cut stripes or drop the coin in some kind of bath to make it toned a certain way that it isnt special.
Its not always the case- but most times it is. However double dies, improper stamps, rotation error and incorrect weights are the more collectible errors!
Keep your eyes open for nickels with restamped mintmarks- there are alot of those from that era.
I am not to sure about it its like a copper color but it almost looks to perfect to be rubbed off on something. I am new to this stuff so it is hard for me to be exact lol cuz i don't know nothing about it.. but it looks like its almost suppose to be there.. its on the back too, just not as many stripes. thanks for the help maybe if i can post a picture of it or somthing..
