I got a 1964 proof today in my change. Is it worth anything?

Circulated/mis-handled 1964 penny and nickel proofs will have a little collector value. I'd guess maybe 25c or so depending on condition.

Pretty good condition I think, despite a small nick on the side. Still a cool find and my first ever proof coin.

I will upload a pic of it. You cant really appreciate it from this picture though.

I don't see the "proof" part of the coin. Looks like a normal '64 nickel to me. Then again, I can't tell when the 60's cents are proofs or not. I have a whole lot of them in BU condition and I've been trying forever to figure out if some of them are proofs

Yeah you can't really tell with the picture but I'm certain it is a proof.

It has an extremely deep strike and you can almost see your reflection in the smooth parts of the coin.

could just be prooflike.

Do some research if the 1964 proofs had an S mintmark on the back or not!

1964 and earlier proof sets were minted in Philadelphia - No mint mark.

Proof coins were struck more than once and have very defined details. For the nickel, look for clearly defined steps on the reverse.
