Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

| I wonder if it'd be a good business to sample one in the USA, as a novelty. |

| My packet of crisps always seems to get stuck whenever I use a vending machine. I can imagine the problem would be ten times worse if my 24k gold bullion bar got jammed. |

Interesting concept and leads me to think of the mindset of those abroad.
Do they have an insight America may be lacking?
One only chooses to buy gold for so many reasons, mostly investment.

Machines like these will never appear in America. The banksters would never allow it. With the exception of a very few Americans like us, the concept that GOLD is money has been lost in America. It is different in the Arabian culture and other places where the people have learned the hard way over the centuries what it is like to have your currency debased by despots, dictators, kings, and government leaders. When we have a full debasement of the USD, the people of America will then think likewise; but not yet now.

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life. – Theodore Roosevelt

| Hmmm. Seems like it would make people easy targets for thieves... you hear about people getting mugged after they pull money from ATMs. |

Yep.
But you have more faith in boobus americanus than I do. We already experienced that after the Revolutionary War. Remember "not worth a continental"..? That was why the founding fathers were obsessed about about real money. We have short memories.

I saw this on TV too. Really cool. My thoughts fell along the lines of some others on here too. What happens if it takes your money and doesn't issue you the gold? Happens in other vending machines quite frequently. I imagine it will have cameras pointed towards the transaction area to verify what has or hasn't occurred.
Cool. I'm guessing we will have something like this in America eventually. |

I disagree with those thinking this won't show up in the US. Certainly not in mass supply, but as a cool novelty in places I bet it starts to show.
I would use it once just to try it and I'm sure others would as well. |
