Sooo.. I am VERY new to coin collecting/sorting/etc.

I have been checking all of the coins I receive in change and pick up coins I see on the ground. For three weeks I never found any silver coins. I have come close a few times, I received a few 1965 quarters and some 62-65 nickels in change. Close but no cigar. I was at my dads house over the weekend and he has a late model clothes dryer. I did some laundry and while I was pulling out my clothes from the dryer, I saw a dime nestled in a crack by the filter. I picked it out and realized it was a 1958 rosie! I could not believe it! My first silver came out of my dads out dryer. Thought I'd share!

Nice snag. It would have been lost forever. Yuo never know where they will pop up. Oh, and welcome.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

i mean, i was ready to say checking change is basically pointless, but then you find one in the washing machine. :)

Welcome to the forum. Finding coins is like the Whitman's chocolate samplers in which they forgot to give you a map to the "good" chocolates and to quote good ole Forrest, you never know what you're going to get. Keep looking for them coins. They could show up anywhere!

Why are you not supposed to clean your coins? What about with just warm water and a towel to get the grime and dirt off?

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
