Where at? That's about half of what is in The Big City Where I Live.
Of course, when they sell it they get market. If you're in the boonies, they'll have to factor shipping into their spread. If not, they're going to do an excellent job of drying up their supply. |

Better find a new scrap yard, or ask your buddy to split all the money they are making off of you with you. Where you at? Paying $2.20 here. I guess they can pay whatever they want as long as there are sellers. At that price I would just hold onto the copper for a while.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

I am in sidney montana, The only scrap yard here is Pacific Steel & Recycling. The only other near scrap yard is in williston ND 50 miles away, and they pay less (they sell to Pacific Steel & Recycling) pacific hide and fir aka Pacific Steel & Recycling has a monopoly on scrap here in montana. Yes there is long shipping that they must do but still they make a large profit..

That's probably the reality of any business in a sparsely populated area. Big city yards can offer higher prices because they process so much, and don't need a large margin to make decent money.
Just save it up and do double duty on your next trip to a big city. |

I also live in Montana. I have tons of copper pipe from plumbing. All sorted. I refuse to deal with Pacific steel. They are almost arrogant with their buy rates. You are better off saving it or taking it to Spokane. Maybe by rail? 'Till they pull their head out of you know what, I will continue to hold on to it. I doubt they see much copper at that rate unless it comes from meth heads.. |

| Here in the Chicago area there are metal recylers, scrap yards, etc all over the place. Sometime I feel there are more of them than grocery stores. |
