Well since I have been getting a lot of wheat pennies with my hording I decided to get a wheat folder to go along with my other folders.
I went to Barnes and Noble, picked one out and went to pay. I got 11 dollars back in change and my 1 dollar bill was a 1957 silver cert. Pretty neat considering those are (almost) never seen in circulation anymore. Its not in any particular good condition. Looks like someone dripped coffee all over it.
Funny too the cashier looked at my face when she handed it too me (and I was a bit shocked) and she apologized for the crappy state of the bill.
Nice score. Being an administrator for a gov't entity, I do not handle money. Stories like this make me wonder if I would rather work at a bank or a retail shop just to have a chance to raid the till. It's amazing what some clerks and tellers have in their hands and have no idea.
