I cashed in about $12 worth of zincolns I found sitting in a box under some old whiskey pourers. I went to TD bank and cashed them in. I asked the teller for rolls of nickels. She said I was the first person she's ever had who cashed in changed and asked for change back.

This was on my lunch break, so as I drive back to work I started to unravel my first roll of nickels. Mind you, they were so much easier to open than rolls of pennies. I don't recommend driving and sorting.

Well, as I cracked open the roll on my steering wheel, the first one I saw was a 1940. By the time I was done the first roll I had that '40 plus a '42 and a '56.

out of the 6 rolls I went through -- while acting like I was working! -- I pulled out 2 more War Nickels and 2 more from the 50s. I immediately went to Coinflation.com (a site I visit religiously) to check out the going rate on War Nickels. Nice. I'm sold. I've been bitten!

I had just started getting a Fed box or two when I cashed my check on payday to put away. I figured it's bad enough I go through boxes of pennies, just put the nicks away for their value/savings. Here's another hobby as my girlfriend will say once she find out.

congrats on your finds.

I point of advice though, dont cash in coins and ask for coins from the same bank (or CU) branch. They will probably do it a couple of times for you, but tend to get annoyed (my experience). I dumped my coins in a credit union and pickup from a BoA and WF. "dont poop where you eat"

CWR hunting is a fun hobby. Ive had the bug for a while :)

I don't think you are the first one here to drive and sort at the same time. Just don't get a headline doing it.

Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended.

I drive and sort all the time. Pick up from one bank, dump at the next. Only time to sort is in the car. Just watch out for those stupid drivers on the phone texting....:)

Last week, I went to one of my Bank of America dump banks; I was turning in $100 of nickels and $25 in pennies.

She asked me would I rather just swap them out for nickels and pennies she just got in vs taking the cash.

I said sure since they were coins I did not sort before.

Use your knee to steer the car. With your left hand, take bites out of your Big Mac and eat your fries one by one.

With your right hand, open and sort rolls.

Tilt your head over to the left to hold your cell phone firmly between your shoulder and cheek while you eat, drive, sort and discuss the traffic situation on the freeway with your business associates. Be certain not to talk with your mouth full.

Using this method, you will find 9 Indians in two boxes...guaranteed!

Not here. I think people under 21 or 18 can't text and drive. Doesn't matter to me as I don't even text while not driving, plus I'm over 21, hehe. I don't even talk much in the truck as it is a manual so it requires two hands and feet to drive. Unless you're into 5th. High speed sorting....

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I've been known to sort at the traffic lights.
