I was finishing running $2100 through the ryedale. Getting to the bottom of the last bucket. One last cup full to pour into the top of the Ryedale. What do i find at the top of the cup (what had been sitting at the bottom of the last bucket of $2100 worth of pennies? A very nice 1893 IHC.
I haven't even looked through the zincs for other keepers yet. But this is a nice start!

Sweet find. How many does this make for you? I still haven't found one, but I'm a very sporadic hand sorter. |

Not quite as nice as finding an IHC, but here is how I prefer to end sorting sessions ;)

I don't really know what the IHC count is at this point. It's at least 5, but i don't think more than 10.
I wish i could sort $4k a month. it's getting to the point where each return bank is a little fed up with me :) Time to expand the drop zones. |

With a ryedale sorting for you. Having a beverage to oversee this process is almost mandatory. |

lol, $2100 - I'm doing good to do that in a year by hand,
For those that might have an idea - how many pennies do you have to go thru on average to find an indian? I've got almost $900 in copper now in roughly two years of sorting and none have showed up for me yet. Still looking and hoping. |

I've heard the number 250,000 thrown around. I have no idea if it's possible to place an average on something so sporadic as Indians though. |

Me so jealous...congratulations!
I've still never found an IH (of a buffalo nickel for that matter) in a roll. One of these days, though...speaking of which, time to start up the Ryedale. |
Now selling Zinc pennies 1.0000 X FV :) |

I'm jealous to,I've been sorting and handling pennies since about 1945 and have yet to find any except for the ones in my GPs dresser drawers back in the 40s.I've been saving wheaties since about 65 and now even they are getting scarce. I average about 5 wheats to about 2500 pennies, but never an IH. |

Very nice find! Congratulations!!!
Me, I have yet to find one either through my coin searches. But, I continue to hope. I know I have been fortunate enough to find other coins that have eluded others on here so I guess it all equals out eventually.
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone.

I have hand sorted for three years, and have found three IHP's. Do you get your pennies from Brinks boxes (or other sources from the Federal Reserve)? The new automation that makes up the process from the Feds has introduced many hard to find coins back into circulation; it has eliminated (or at least curailed) the tellers from pulling them out themselves.
Hope you find your treasure!
