I am sure many of you read the articles on coinflation and notice the daily highlighted ebay item on auction.
Today, it is 50 lbs of copper pennies. If you click over the item, it says "Strong Bidding on copper cents. Market is alive and well"
Do you think investing in pre-82 copper cents is becoming more main stream.

heh, i wouldn't call it exactly strong bidding. if you're okay with selling a $50 lot of pennies for $60 before the fees, then you can call the bidding strong...
Personally i would say it's pretty dormant at best right now on the bay. |

Doesn't it feel good to be ahead of the mania? Ahead of the rush? I feel like a convenience store in Bethel, NY just before the Woodstock festival. How can I get my hands on more cases of peanut butter? |

I think that if you are saving the pre82 you are just more aware of it when you see ad etc. |

The person appears to be in Florida. Does anyone know if it is one of our members? Also, I checked feedback to see what had sold recently and two lots of the same amount of pennies went for over $100.00 each. Appears they hadn't packed them very well though from the feedback given.

To answer the thread topic I would say indeed yes. as more people hear and read about it from the likes of Schiff, mises.org etc the message is heard by more and received by some. As for the investment method, I don't know if solely gauging e-bay activity is a solid metric when those cents are sold at a premium, while others are offered en mass (billions) in common circulation at face value. |
The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities. |

I think not. Those who collect copper cents are considered up there with the rest of the looneys, and I don't mean Canadian Dollars. It is just more fodder for the news to talk about instead of real news. |
Awake, O kings of the earth! Come ye, O, come ye, with your gold and your silver, to the help of my people, to the house of the daughters of Zion, to the help of the people of the God of this Land even Jesus Christ. |

With places like APMEX selling them their day seems to be at least coming. I consider them much like wheat cents were a few years back. Back then you could still pull them out of circulation by the bucket full. Hoarding them seemed like a silly thing to do by many. Time and supply has a way of slipping by quicker than many people think. |
