I recently got called to set up a job interview. It pays well, but I was surprised to find out about the amount of driving I would have to do around the county doing inspections. The furthest distance w/o knowing the exact addy would be 75 miles away. Imagining the worst case senario... Having to walk home all the way I divided the miles by 5 and got 30 days of walking. What does this mean for me? It means I have to have 30 days of food with me in the cart in the car ready to go at any time. I have also considered what else I would need to make g o o d easier on me.

Yesterday I came up with a combination if convenient foods, drink mixes, etc.... I will post this the next time I have an actual computer and not a hand held device.

Of course that day I just might be carpooling w a non-prepper and have to make sure to have enough for two.

ARE YOU READY? ARE YOU SELF SUFFICIENT? ARE YOU GREEN????

Addendum: actual days would be 15. However if I'm with a non-prepper I'll need 30 days of food.

Do be careful of these mixes and convenience foods as most may or will contain MSG under a myriad of names.

@ alpacafarmer: u remind me of the man at the superdome during hurricane Katrina who only came w an apple pie. He said that was all he needed. I sure would like to know what happened to him on day 5.

By the way I'm being influenced by the book One Second After. The author really went into detail on long term starvation. I know I will not make it back in three days. I have in my car ration bars and mountain house freeze dried food. I also have rice, pasta and beans in my car already. My teacher cart will be used to transport my essentials. In another thread I've already mentioned my B O P(purse).

I'll write out my recipe for homemade soup mix that you could take along and just add water. You can easily carry a month's worth of food in a relatively small space. Skimping on calories in general and protein in particular is not an option if you're going to be doing more physical activity than usual.

Nice blog, been canning forever, but had not thought of dehydrating and then canning. I have stayed away from canning meats due to reason already stated, dehydrating the meat first is a great idea! Now I just need to blow the dust off of the dehydrators and buy some more jars!
