| The possibility of these types of events in a city near you are real and potentially lethal. With the cell phones and social networks these events could be easily organized and difficult to stop. Wonder how many people really know the ratio of police to citizens and how dangerous these events could really turn into. If you are ever caught in one seek secure shelter quickly. |

If possible leave the area as fast as you can, watch it on the news later.
If on foot, see shelter in a shop or anywhere you can get off the street.
Avoid places where you could become trapped (alleys, secluded areas, public bathrooms), stay with small groups that may also attempting to shelter from the mob.
But most importantly be aware of your surrounding at all times, if you do so you should be able to see such a thing when its in its early stages and exit the area.

Get inside. Away from the group. Preferably someplace in a building with no big glass windows out front.
Anytime you HAVE TO MAKE A STAND and there is NO ALTERNATIVE against multiple aggressors, force THEM into a choke point. Think doorway. then you only have to defend against one at a time, and as you drop them the doorway becomes "choked" as people back hurriedly up from it, or are tripping over people to get to it.
Nickelless you met me and seen the collapsible steel baton I carry. It never runs out of ammo, and will split/crack a skull or break a bone easily.
Best is to move quickly out of the area. FAR FAR away, because mob mentality is chaos. Not up, not inside, not far enough away so you can record it or watch, FAR FAR away.

This country boy already doesn't like large crowds and big cities, and will not go near them if I can help it. Yet another reason to avoid them...

There was a "flash mob" or whatever kinda close to me a few weeks. Kansas City, Missouri area. You must be logged in to see this link.
Basically what happened is that a bunch of thugs from the ghetto went to one of the most affluent living/shopping areas and caused trouble. JUST TO CAUSE TROUBLE! It was setup on several social networking sites. 700+ of them.
Robberies, assaults, blocking traffic, fighting with police, among other things. These criminals actually lucked out. Had they pulled this crap on a certain type of person, things could have ended very bad for one, or several of them....
There is so much more to this story and I could go on and on about this, and no doubt anger some people so I'll stop. For now....

p.s. Kurr, while I do not doubt your baton skills, and I definately would not want to face you with it, a firearm would be a better first choice I think. Great advice by the way. |

Brother, I con-Kurr, hehe. I DO NOT want to take a life. Justified or not. Maybe you should get that CCW, carry the 1911, but use the bone-breaker incase use the bathroom really hits the fan some time.
thogey, I wish my state was the same way with CCW laws as Arizona is/will be. The CCW law is racist? Or the anti-ILLEGAL alien law? I'm for both....
