Went to the bank today and got a bunch of nickel rolls. Five of them had black "X"s on the wrappers (the tell tale sign of someone's dump) but I said what the heck I will see if this character left anything valuable behind (thinking like a dung beetle)
Roll #1, I find five x 1953 AU chrome plated nickels. No nickel in these coins, but they are worth at least 35 cents for numismatic value.
Rolls #2 to #4, I find eight post-1963 American nickels. With the Canadian dollar at par with the USD, I can see why someone would dump them back. But I always keep American nickels in case the Cdn dollar drops again.
Rolls #5, I see this odd American nickel with a big "P" on the back. I flip it over and see it is a 1944 war nickel. Out of all the nickels I searched this is only my third one.
Moral of the story, some guys out there dump better stuff than they keep.
