Hey Country! That's the oldest proof reported so far! Wonder what else is out there? |

Nothing reported here in a while... no luck out there, or are these just that hard to come by? |

I recently found a 1981 S penny. So it would be a proof, but you sure couldn't tell by looking at it. It has definitely seen better days.
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone. |

I will repeat this, because it bears repeating.
The following coins bearing the San Francisco mintmark (S) are probably circulation strikes: Cents dated 1968-1974 Nickels dated 1968-1970 Dollars dated 1979-1981 |

Good point, Cerulean. That would mean that so far, roadrunner's 1969 cent and totalcount's 1980 SBA dollar might in fact be circulation strikes. Either of you care to chime in on how these coins actually looked? Anything make you think they were undoubtedly proofs? Or are the coins even still around in your collections? THREAD DATA IS ACCURATE TO THIS POINT. |
