I am wondering what you guys do when you find a machine roll that has a silver coin (40% or 90%) facing out. Do you open or collect them? I found one and am tempted to open it.

Thanks

I open it.. pluck the silver coin out.. toss the rest with a replacement clad into one of the automatic rolling machines.. and reroll.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

I see no reason to keep it. Pluck the silver out and spend the clads.

I suppose you could keep a couple of rolls with SILVER ends around for awhile. They might be nice to look at and hold as we all get those swarms of depressing dump boxes from time to time.

I wouldn't collect them and I would open them up. Many times I've seen that the rolls with SILVER on the ends have even more SILVERs inside the rolls.

A roll with silver on one end is usually just 9.50 of hoard/sorting capital tied up and is not worth more or really collectable. And like Country says.. there might be more silver inside. Set that Silver Free! I roll up my silver and put custom labels on it once I have enough to make a roll. Wasn't able to roll half dollars until I got my third machine.. the Glory WS-21. The other 2 machines don't roll halves.

I save the silver end for last, that way I know the last roll will have one. No point is saving it.
For reference, 2 years ago it wasn't unusual. Today it's real rare.

I unwrap the ones with silver showing first. Sometimes it is the only one in the roll, and sometimes you get a roll with $9.50 in silver and .50 in clad.

I take a picture or two, then open it, after trying to guess the year (if reverse showing).
