I bought about 2500 British 5 pence (about the size of dimes) from a RealCenter, along with plenty of higher denomination stuff. My sister is going to England in May, and I wanted to pick out a few dates to cross off my wantlist (see my signature). I will have to admit, I did not search each one for errors, but one that I DID notice has doubling on the entire obverse. It's hard to get a very clear image, but here's my best shot at it:
I noticed it first on the date of course. But look all along the face! It may not be valuable, but it sure was exciting to spot it!

| And guess what... it's a 1995. So that makes it a 1995 doubled die! If you are a Lincoln cent nut, you are probably aware that the phrase "1995 doubled die" is well-known. Now I can say I have a 1995 doubled die and at least turn a few heads. Until they see it's not Abe but Liz. |
