Maybe someone should start a tracking thread for all the weird, wonderful, and wacky stuff we find as we search? In the last two days (searching pennies) I found a 1 yi jiau (1/10 yuan) Chinese nickel type coin, a copper two cent euro, and a copper German 2 pfennig coin. How come, since I live in mid-California, I find lots of Canadians... but no Mexican coins?? Are there none of the right size that could be confused with pennies?

Beau, are you a volunteer to start the thread or looking for one? |

I really don't have the time, but was wondering if there was someone (like AGgressiveMetal, for instance) who might have enough interest to develop one. We could do a scarcity type thing (based on population of the foreign country?) or something. It might be interesting to see how long it took to complete a "set" of the countries in the different continents. I'll bet we get a pretty fair representation of various types and denominations of a scattering of countries now, but it might be fun to determine which finds might actually represent a rare occurrence (like a coin from Bhutan, or deep in the heart of Africa, or something) ![](images/demo/icon_smile_clown.gif) |

I've been tracking the foreign coins found as a result of looking through CWRS, boxes, and bags as a byproduct of SILVER searching. It's quite a list of foreign coins since January and can be seen within the SILVER coin tracking thread. This might be an interesting tracking thread if all our finds were combined together. Who is going to step up and do some tracking here? ![](images/demo/icon_smile_cool.gif)

Yikes. 40 British coins! ZEROCD: Does your 1918 penny have the letters KN next to the date? And would you be willing to part with your 2008 twenty pence? GARNEDE: Is that an 1891 sixpence? Way cool! |

I find British coins all the time. They move in the Canadian coinage pretty easily. Keep them in a lock-n-lock box for next time in London. I think it is easier to track within the silver, and penny tracking threads. Most people just list what they find there and don't need the extra hassle of posting in yet another thread. |

I am probably the luckiest non-US coin finder alive. I bring home large amounts every stinkin' day.
Today I got a large coin from Sierra Leone if I spelled that right. That's a country I don't have a jar for. I have coins from five African counties in the last week and none of those from South Africa. (certainly not too many otherwise. I probably have less than a hundred from that continent. I have one counter surface(about a 2'X3' flat space) for jars and tubes from non-US but I don't catalog much. I think I am coming up on $1000 Canadian now. I also have fair amounts of Euro's, English and Mexican coin. I am sorting about $8000 plus a week now (US)so my time is spent elseware. 99% of my non-US was obtained free from the coin counters locally.

I will try and remember to look for the 1918 penny and 2008 Twenty Pence. What about those letters if they are there?

OK, looked up the 1918 English Penny reference to KN (King Norton) and will check. I have a lot of large English Pennies from that time frame passed down from my fathers Magic coins. I sorta doubt any will have the KN after reading.
I will check!

Probably stating the obvious here... but have you finders of English coinage checked the thread in my signature? |

I checked my English Pennies last night and not King Norton initials could be found next to the date.
If you would like the 2008 twenty pence, let's exchange a coin. Your pick.
