Assuming that was a full size unit that seems a bit low but free money is free money I suppose ;). I *love* finding water heaters that are still mostly full as they are quite heavy :D.
This morning I turned in 3 appliances & assorted scrap at $10.50/100 netting $65 for 620lbs. |

I've been getting $10.50/100lb for about a month now. Spend some time on google looking for other yards in your neighborhood if you haven't already.
Only to yards are close enough to make it worth driving to.

Awesome! Here in Orlando the competition is extreme. I see two to three other guys driving through every trash night :|. Heck I have a new neighbor that just started scrapping the other week. I don't know the guy so I'm a bit concerned that he may drive by my house one weekend when the garage door is up and see my hoard.
Prices went down for me this week. Wednesday it was $10.50/100 but today it was $8.50/100. Bummer... |

The last of my steel 320 lbs @ .07 $22.40
If the price keeps dropping I may not be doing much steel. But we will see, they are doing clean up week in my area the next few weeks so I may not be able to pass up on the free steel! |

New state, new yard. Took a small load in today to see how they operate.
41 lb. #1 copper - $112.75 @ 2.75 lb. 2 lb. cans - $1.10 @ .55 lb.
I'll be making a few more trips this week. $2.75 is about .50 higher than I would have gotten in ND. |

Total - $88.11

Been picking up metal on my daily bike rides. Bolts, nuts, washers, screws, lead tire weights, and other junk.
In one week I had over 30 pounds of metal! |

I cut the power cords off, I took one apart and saw that it had copper coated aluminum for the wire in the windings. So I seperated the peices that were stainless from the rest and cut the power cords off..I actually never scrapped those because I am saving up my stainless still and figure i will throw the windings and motors in with the ferrous scrap I have. Can you get money for those electric motors even if they don't have copper windings? |

Scrap steel down to .06 per lb. 460 lbs $27.60. I don't think I will do too much steel this summer with the prices going down not worth it! |

I've been kind of slow lately not having a truck anymore. I did pick up 3 Vacuum Cleaners, a computer Monitor, and a window AC the other day. I also got part of a tail pipe from a truck that's partly stainless. |
Are you throwing that out? |

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

If anyone hasn't tried, look at craigslist ads for giveaways to scrap. |
