Not sure where to post this question, but this seems good.

I have some copper that I would like to melt down, but I am unsure about the process used to concentrate the copper to 99%+, and assay the end product. I am not real smart, so I would need it explained with as little technical language as possible.

Dont feel bad man, I'm trying to learn as well. Check out the scrap metals forum and look for a thread called "turning scrap into bars". Some other good places to look are Backyardmetalcasting.com, and goldrefiningforum.com. Everything you can imagine is there, but understanding it can be headache-inducing to me at the moment. I'm much better with mechanical processes than chemical ones. Hope this was at least a little help.

You might find this of interest.

It looks like electrolytic would be the way to go to get the purest Cu.

It doesn't look that much more difficult than electroplating, but I am no scientist.
