There is nothing better than living in the country with hopefully freedom to do what you want. Congrats! Have fun and enjoy your little farm. |

Scooter, congrats to you on your recent acquisition. I wish you much peace and happiness on your new property.
I guess it all depends on what "season of life" we are in as to what we desire.
We have lived on ~3 acres of land for almost 30 years now. It's in a small rural town, that I first moved to back in 1960 with my parents as a child that had not yet begun school.
We are looking to sell our property and have had it listed for almost a year now. It is still residential while we live here as we are "grandfathered in" but as soon as it sells it is automatically zoned commercial as the city did this to us quite a few years ago.
Living on your own land can be great. But when you reach a point in your life that health issues outweigh the joys and the upkeep on the land becomes too much it is time to move on and get into something that involves no upkeep.
Again, I hope you enjoy your land and that it is good to you and for you. |

Reading this put a big grin on my face! I am not too far behind myself. What are you most excited to do with your new "freedom"? A good night of sleep comes to my mind! |
Would Like To Trade: Coins for 1 acre of rural land. |

I don't see sleep being all that good for a while. You have too much planning and daydreaming to do. |

thanks guys , i was walking out of the warehouse today and out of no where 5 dear ran thru the yard right in front of me. This is so cool its a very wooded lot with wooded lots on 2 sides so i guess i can expect them to pass thru every once in a while. I also saw a coyote run across the street the other day.

Like others have said, congratulations and enjoy your own little paradise! About 12 years ago my parents moved us out of the city and out into semi-rural Michigan on a nice 5-acre lot. Growing up that was the greatest thing a kid could ever ask for. Freedom to ride dirt bikes, shoot rifles, watch wildlife, etc. Now that I'm older and in the military I'm hoping to one day own a few acres of land myself somewhere, so my family can enjoy the same freedom that I did. |

Gratz scooter, I will be in your shoes soon.
This summer I am moving from the Chi town burbs to central Texas. Really hope I can have some space. I have been saving and salvaging scrap stuff off and on for years, but it is really hard out of a small suburban apartment. And with more land, maybe I can try to build a backyard furnace, dabble in melting down some metal of my own!
