Numismatic news call it "One of the best circulation finds ever" - a 1943-S copper cent at auction for $207,000. In January, a 1943-P copper cent sold for $218,500.
I swear years ago before I knew much about coin collecting, I came across a copper colored 43. I knew just enough about coins to know the 43's were made of steel so I threw it in the pail with the others and never saved it. It most likely was fake but I'll never know. With my luck it probably was the real thing.
COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!
SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested.
Well at least you can drive the car lol. You could bring the copper 43 to the bank and deposit it or buy a might fine $200K gumball if you can still find a penny machine.

Me neither. But the next question is, if you found one in circulation, and had it authenticated/graded by one of the major services, would you KEEP it or SELL it?

Lots of those around. I've got 3 of them. People coat the steel ones for fun.
