Poll Question:
So after my great score today, I finally have over $10 face of 40% halves. I noticed on buillon direct the other day that $10 face 40% halves were selling in the $38-$44 range. Now, here's my question...should I list now on buillon direct, and sell what I have, or should I wait and try to accumulate over $100 face 40%ers? I don't recall the sell prices for $100 face, so I'd have to look it up...

Choices:

YES!! Sell now while silver is up
NO!! Hold out for higher spot prices
NO!! Save your 40%ers and wait until you have $100 face
NO!! Hold them for potential numismatic value
YES!! Sell when/where you can!!
NO!! Other/misc. reason(s)

Its both wait till you get more and the price to go up in my opinion. $20 face isnt that much, hardly enough to warrant shipping. Why not try to sell them here when you get more? I'd like a shot at em anyways.

Another thing is that Bullion Direct will charge a small percent (1% I think), you'll be responsible for shipping, and will have you on record. Who all sees that record is questionable. This forum is a great place to sell because of the P2P privacy that the market has. If you want the cash now, I've got $80 + I'll pay shipping.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your replies/advice. I have no idea what I should sell the 40%ers for. Anyone know what the average price/going rate for $10 face 40%ers would be??? Also, I may hold out for more coins and higher prices....although I'd at least like to get a ballpark figure now...

Sorry about that....typo in the original posting ...I have over $10 face. I MIGHT have over $20, I have to check (most of my stash is in my safe deposit box). I'll be going to my main bank tomorrow where I dump, and will also check my safe deposit box then. I'll post the exact amount of face 40%ers I have sometime tomorrow. Again, sorry for any confusion I might have caused. I have 31 40% coins now @ home, but don't know the exact number I have in my safe deposit box. Ironically, I DO know the exact number of 90%ers I have, it's 6 ($3 face)....

I'd wait until you have more to sell so shipping doesn't eat so much of the profit. You can fit $200+ in a small flat rate box for $4.95.

Selling via Bullion Direct / Nucleo Exchange has worked well for me. One advantage to selling on the forum is that you don't have to worry about selling in multiples of $10.

That was my first thought. I sold the first silver halves that I found because I wanted a larger cash position so I could buy more halves.

If you don't need the cash, don't sell.

Unless you're desperate, hang on. time (and inflation) is on your side.

I pretty much agree with knibloe and fb101. Unless you need the cash, just hold on.

Thanks everyone. since I don't really need the cash right now, I'll be holding on to them for a while, and trying to get more!!

Everytime I sold I usually listed them for 90% of melt. This seems to be the market right now.

If you can, hold off selling for a while untill you have a few hundred in face. Then sell about $100 face and keep some if silver goes even higher.

I don't think you'd have any trouble selling those 40%ers for 4x fv. I think you could also sell them for closer to 5x fv on Ebay. It seems the prices on the coins there are still running a little high.

Selling Copper cents. $0 FV available at 1.4xFV. Also interested in trading for wheat pennies and other coins Please pm me for requests or inquiries.

Just found 2 more 40%ers in tonight's $500 box....will definitely be holding on to them for a while. Unfortunately, March is gonna be a lean month for me sorting wise, as I have several large bills coming due throughout the month, and will have a very limited cash supply. This really sucks, as the first 2 weeks of March I'll be on vacation and staying @ home with an unlimited amount of free time...oh well...

I would sell em off and buy some 90% or .999 silver. Never did fancy them there 40% halves to much. The 40% seem a bit harder to get rid of at times. I do belive now is not the time to sell silver, but..... who knows maybe it's gonna tank!?!

Hold on to them at least until the spot price gets in the 18-20 range.

Personally, I would hold on to them until after we see a fiat currency crisis.

It's Half Time...all the time.
