Hello and Welcome!!! All of the above advice is the Best info you can get, aside from combing through this forum's old posts....(tons of good info there)
I would just like to add my 2 cents ( that's all I have left) :)
Revel in your excitement! It is fun! but be careful, go slow but not too Dang slow, Get a Ryedale if you can, handsorting unless you truly have the time is, well for me anyways, not an option! I did it for a few hundred dollars, Of course I had no job back then either!
What I mean by going slow, is that as a newbie, which I am as well, you will encounter a lot of new situations, like you mentioned at the banks. Who do you talk to? What do they think I am doing with these pennies? I always ask myself ,"Should I ask them if they have heard of Gresham's Law and if they intend on doing anything about it?" Then I just smile to myself and enjoy their ignorance.... but again there are many problems which may cause much frustration.
Don't ever dumb WET coins, the teller will kill you! Seriously, it'll mess up their machine, I wish I had been to this forum sooner!! Oh and opening rolled coin in my opinion sucks! But I just use a utility knife make a nice cut from end to end and split em open. Works for me, I have tried the potato peeler method, which works quite well, but I am slow at it.
GOOD LUCK! |
