Well, it finally happened to me too. Don't know whether to call this getting skunked, because this isn't a solid box of searched zincs, these are all BU straight from the Treasury. What's really weird is that most of them are solid 2008, but about a third of them have maybe one or two at most darker rimmed cents included. Weird. I plan on returning them unless someone is interested in 2008's. Should I just sock these away and forget about em? Any thoughts?

Hoard now and hold on!

The coin processors often toss in a few handfulls of ugly coins to make the rolls come out that way. It is to discourage hoarding of BU rolls. This practice started back in the 70's.

thats funny i've found something like that back in 2008. The box was all zinc but some of the rolls weighed a little heavier (still zincs) due to the couple older coins in the rolls. Kind of late to find a BU box from 2008 isn't it?

Did you go to a bank that pulled this out of storage? I bought a box of dimes from a bank a couple weeks back that had a stamped date on the box from 2007, nothing specatular in the ag finds though

Selling Copper cents. $0 FV available at 1.4xFV. Also interested in trading for wheat pennies and other coins Please pm me for requests or inquiries.

I got one of those boxes from my last visit to the city. It was a $25 box full of new 2007 Cdn pennys. My local TD was nice enough to exchange it for a box of CWR pennys. I toyed with the idea of keeping them but they just weren't old enough to be worth while.

Nice. Yes. Very nice.

I kept all the BU rolls I found last year (cdn nickels and dimes) but it's getting to be a lot of money to keep tied up. With BU pennies I would probably hang on to a box per year indefinitely but I haven't come across any yet. There are two online retailers I know of that deal in cdn mint rolls including recent years, retail prices range from 1.5-2x face by the roll for the recent years. Even if the year is nothing special there is still a limited population of uncracked rolls as time goes on, there's also the chance of finding uncirculated error coins if you do crack them.
