Hello everyone.
I've been sorting pennies for a few years now, and I really enjoy this forum, so I finally decided to join. I just got my Ryedale machine a few days ago, and it's a real treat! I'm enjoying browsing through the archives and learning as much as I can. Anyway, that's all for now. I look forward to contributing to this great site.
ok, now back to sorting...

Hi fiatboy,
Welcome to the forum. Congrats on getting a Ryedale. It is one of my favorite machines, and I have lots of machines.. LOL. You didn't say what part of the country you are from. I would guess from your sorting percentages in the other thread that you might be from CA. I am from northern CA.
One trick you might try now that you have a Ryedale is to resort your zinc rejects through the machine using a zinc coin as the comparison coin and adjusting the sensitivity. This will pop out some of the older wheat cents that got rejected on the first pass because they contain a little bit of tin in their composition.
I look forward to reading more of your posts.
If your percentages are low.. just sort more.

I'm from Ohio, and my typical percentage is around 25%. To be honest, though, I haven't really kept stats on most of what I've sorted so far. Whether I hit 5% percent or 50% doesn't make too much of a difference to me. I'll persist as long as there's copper to be had. hahaha.
Seriously, though, when I consider the coinage of other countries, I realize that worldwide, there isn't much copper (or silver) left in circulation.
Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome. Tomorrow I plan to sort the "zinc concentrate." Can't wait!
