Just curious - has anyone had any success asking for halves in checkout lines in stores? I've gotten into the habit of asking whenever I checkout - most of the time they don't have any of course but I occasionally get a few but no silver yet. I've thought about asking at customer service desks (when there's no waiting line)after noticing a guy cashing in a couple of rolls of quarters before he went shopping at a Walmart.

I stick to banks. Halves are uncommon in banks, I would think the only ones still being circulated are from people like us that want to spend the rejects.

Selling Copper cents. $0 FV available at 1.4xFV. Also interested in trading for wheat pennies and other coins Please pm me for requests or inquiries.

Yes, I've bought some from cashiers before. They want to get rid of them badly, so they will be more than happy to sell them to you.

Only if I happen to see them in the change-drawer. Haven't seen any in a long time though.

There is an Arabian gas station in my town that holds all halves for me. I've gotten a few 40%ers over time, but mostly clad and no 90% as of yet.

Why do you think the public isn't too fond of halves? too big? I went yardsaling last year and spent all the halves I had picked up at the bank (didnt find any silver) and people seemed to love to get them. They would say stuff like I have seen one of these in a long time.

I really can't honestly say why halves are not treated as quarters or dimes. You would think that they'd be much more popular, but they aren't.

...because people always confuse them with SBA dollars.
