THE SILVER STREAK CONTINUES...

$100 halves NF String rolls

1 90% '64 no mint mark

2 40% '68D(x2)

$482.50 bag halves from coin sorting machine

3 90% '64 no mint mark(x3)

19 40%

'65 no mint mark
'66 no mint mark(x4)
'67 no mint mark(x9)
'68D(x3)
'69D(x2)

I almost didn't go pick up this particular bag, as when I called and the branch manager said they had about $480 loose in the coin sorter, I thought for sure they were someone's dumps. She ran the bag through the sorter again to verify the count, and looking on, I spotted 2 40%ers as they were going into the machine, so I knew the bag wasn't going to be a skunk..... That's 5 consecutive purchases now, AND NO SKUNKS!!!

garnede -

It's probably not bad that you found a Canadian 2009 before a US 2009. I've sorted out 20+ equivalent dimes boxes in the last 3-4 weeks and have only found (2) 2009-P's. Granted I do not date search the dimes, but I do target the 2009's by looking at any dimes that look new (very bright copper edges, perfect reeds, etc)...I can find tons and tons of 2006-2008 that way but 2009's are TOUGH!!!! Being in Alaska you probably see quite a few Canadians I would imagine.

Taking my brother home tonight after sorting the above dime bag, we stopped at the local Pick N Save grocery store. My brother picked out several items and went to check out in aisle 5. They have those automatic change dispensers in the checkout aisles. I usually look at the coins stacked inside through the clear glass and have several times spotted silver dimes...never made any attempts to retrieve these silvers. Today I looked at the dispensers in aisles 3 and 4. Aisle 4 had nothing from what I could tell. Different story in aisle 3...I noted a silver dime and silver quarter which I had to do something about. I went up to Mykala at the service counter, told her I collected coins and asked if she had access to the dispenser in aisle 3. She did and agreed to open and retrieve the coins I wanted...I scored...

(1) 90% Silver Roosevelt dime - 61D
(1) 90% Silver Washington quarter - 64D

Very nice girl and she got an education from me that I really didn't want her to have. However, if I didn't ask her for them, I would have never got them. Perhaps in the future she will be pulling the silvers or perhaps she will help me again...we'll see what happens!!!!!

New SILVER stats have been posted. Look to the first post of this thread to get the details. Always look to the line just before the Kitco quotes to see the last post that was included in the latest update.

$210 CWR Quarters
$95 BWR dimes
$85 CWR dimes
$40 CWR Nickels

All skunked. I did find 3 .999 canadian nickels, but that was it. Not even any foreign besides canadian. I did get a heart flutter when I thought I found silver in the quarters, but it turned out to be canadian.

In the last batch I reported I forgot to say that the BWR that produced the 5 pence was short 2 dimes.
