Poll Question:
Hi,

Some large scale venders of silver offer discounts on orders of say 500oz or greater. Obviously the majority of us aren't going to be making these types of purchases regularly.

Would people here be interested in pooling funds together to actually be able to reach those minimums? Everyone would receive the same discount if we were to reach it, and money would be sent to one member only after we reach our buying quota.

This could even become a regular thing, where we create an order roster where those people interested would put their name in and the amount they were willing to contribute, and the order would go out as soon as we reach the dollar amount required.

Choices:

yes i would be okay with this
no, this doesn''''t interest me, (please explain why)

It would have to be organized properly and very straight forward. Like for example, 10 people all go in and buy a monster box through one established member and each get 50 oz's or something like that split evenly. Once you get odd numbers of people, or people wanting different quantities, then the confusion will start with how much each owes, and how much silver they get. Make it nice and simple and I may participate.

On the collector's universe forum there are always several people doing bulk purchases such as this. Fairly common and no less risk than doing a normal trade on the forum if you ask me.

The amount you save is negligible though anyway, so I'm not sure why bother. Especially when you calculate in an EXTRA shipping charge.

I'm a member of another bullion trading forum and group buys happen often when there is enough of a bulk discount to make reshipping worthwhile.

Actually this is pretty simple a task:

facts:

All the oz's sell at a given price
We order as soon as we have enough money

So if 70% want monster boxes and the rest are small orders, it still works out evenly. The real question lies would you all be okay with someone buying less and getting the same great discounted price...

I would do this with personal friends in person at a brick-n-mortar, but probably not over the internet like this.

The way to do it is have the person who buys the most gets the delivery.

Everyone else pays actual freight from that persons place.

I think that the order would have to be large. If not the reshipping would make it a wash or make the deal cost more.

APMEX 2010 Eagles

40 shipped = 773.95

500 shipped = 9149.95

That makes 40 from a Monster box = 732 + 5 to reship = 737

Savings of 36.95

Not a bad deal if it worked out.

But the person receiving the Monster box has to ship out. They need some sort of kickback for their time.

Definitely down. I am nowhere close to buying a monster, but a discount might be nice. :)

I think its a great idea; have any of you ever tried Northwest Territorial Mint; the thing I hate about APMEX is the shipping charge

Or call Tulving and let him pay the first delivery with a price of $1.79 over or $9010 for 500 - 2010's in an opened box.

The other thing with NWTM is we may not live long enough to see the coins be delivered! Where the other two places you should have them in hand within a week.

I agree with Fatboy. No one beats Tulving for cost on bulk buys. Go with Tulving all of the way.

Just my two cents!

And I am not sure, but I believe once you meet the threshold for minimum order, I believe you can throw in anything else you would want at less than the minumum order, such as gold, platinum, and palladium.

Just my two cents!

Just by the amount of people voting, "yes" (currently 18). If the order was split evenly, each member would need to chip in a little over 500 dollars.

I am interested, but i also wouldn't be the largest buyer.
