What is the rule when selling 1982 copper, do you have to mention there are 1982's in there
Is it better to sort out the 1982's separate and just sell up to 1981
Is a flip test good enough to go on that they are guaranteed copper
Are buyers turned off about the thought of getting some zinc 1982 in their purchase
Whats do You do with your 1982's

weigh them. copper 3.1 grams zinc 2.5 grams.
bounce them off a hard surface. copper rings. zink thuds.
balance beam with popcycle stick and pencil.
sort with a Ryedale.

As far as leaving the zinc 82's mixed in ....ask yourself this
How many rotten apples do you want in your bag of apples?

or How many clad quarters can I put in this roll of silver quarters that I am selling you?

You don't have to be the BEST you just have to be.......SLICK

yep, think that covers it.
just throw them back, Its like fishing, you should always leave a fish or two in the pond, you dont want to fish it out. Let it grow and have baby 82's.......

70% of the 82's will be copper, don't throw them back... Bounce off a "hard wood" surface while sorting. It is very easy to tell the difference...

I think that if you are 100% sure that your 1982 pennies are copper, and you have done all the tests, then I think it's okay to sell them with the other coppers.

for those who have sold ryedale-sorted cents, has a buyer ever looked in and said, hey there are 82s in here?
is there anyone who hand-sorted for a long time and saved all their 82s, then bought a ryedale and sold a bunch of 82 copper?

I sorted about a box and a half before I realized not all 82's were copper! Woops. But I have a $10 digital scale that I got on ebay that works really well. Now I find that less than half of my 82's are copper. Here's a link to it. You must be logged in to see this link. Its also good for weighing mail, and other metal-type things. ;-)

I separate my '82s then give them the ol' bounce test on a concrete floor. The vast majority of them, I have found, are Cu. I may find one Zincer to every 12-15 1982 pennies. My odds many times are even better than that. -James

I sort them separate then later I put them through my Ryedale Ace or do a bounce test and add the copper ones to my CU pile.

I separate them from the coppers and throw them all together. Later go back pull out the small dates and roll them then roll all my large date's up and keep them separate. When I get a full box of 82's I will see if anyone wants them on eBay.
