I just found two Panama Pennies in a box of pennies from a local bank called Frost Bank. They were awkward things and unlike any other foreign coin I've found. Anybody else seen any of these?

| I find a number of Caadian coins being close to Canada. In fact we use them here and most places take them on par with US coins. |

| Oh. Well, I'm in Texas, not North Dakota, so we only find them on occasion. |

| Yes we have Frost banks in Houston...there is not one close by me though...but I knew they were only in Texas thats why I asked where you are. I get about 3 Canucks a box....only two Bahama pennies so far. |

| You know that the Frost Bank Tower is the third largest building in Austin, but used to be the first? I read somewhere that it was the first skyscraper to be built after Sept. 11, 2001. |

| Actually yes, I have found two Panama centismos so far, both this last December. BofA CWR's. Both were of the KM#125 type, less than ten years old. I agree the reverse is really odd, makes it look like a token. |

Yes, so far I have found 5 of the 1 centisimo coins & 1 of the 5 centisimos coin. The ones have a native in a strange hat.
Happy hunting all!! |

I think that makes two members here from Austin. There are a lot of Texas folks on here, maybe that explains my low copper percentages |

| Kirkland- I buy from BofA. I am in San Antonio, and the Chase banks here are very unfreindly and rarely have much coin to sell. |

this is the way I understand it: PANAMA CENTESIMO 1935-1979: bronze only 1980-1982: both, but distinguishable by different designs 1983-199?: copper coated zinc only |

We don't have any Frost banks up in Northern CA.. but I have found quite a few panama cents in my sorting. According to my World Coins 2010 telephone book the old ones are made of bronze and weight 3.1 grams and the newer ones starting in 1975 are made of copper plated zinc and weigh 2.5 grams. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

| I knew there was something hinky about my listing. I would trust that newer edition. Thanks for the rebound after my airball, Hoard. |

Well there are multiple designs, proof only issues, unauthorized issues etc.. but most of the ones we would find in a sort should be easy to seperate with a scale or a Ryedale. |

| The reason I was asking if you went to Chase is because every branch of that bank is my dump bank for pennies and halves. |
