So do ya'll keep a written record of what you find? Since I started this craziness last year I did for the first 50 boxes now I just comment to whoever is in the room the percentage of copper from the box. Sometimes I am the only one in the room...;-)

I started doing the same thing keeping track of what percentage I got from what bank, how much I sorted each week. But I started getting a standing order from a bank and my percentages never seem to drop so I quit keeping records.

fasteddy,
In this room, we are like flies on the wall. We listen and only occasionally do we respond. Nothing wrong with keeping records. Wont know where you are if you don't know where you started. Yes. I used to keep records and have slipped since starting two plus years ago.
I always tell my coworkers when they catch me talking to myself that it's a sign of GENIUS. Like coinhunter says you only have to worry when you start answering.

I thought about doing that, but I decided against it long ago. But there is no reason you shouldn't do it, as it helps you stay organized.

I didn't track anything when I first started sorted, but started keeping track about 6 months ago. I have an excel sheet where I track wheats, canadians and copper percentages on a per $25 dollar basis. I have a notes column on the right where I can put in any unique, rare or foriegn type of coins found.

I started keeping track this year. I have two reasons

1. So I know how much I have taken out of the family budget (if I feel that I have taken too much out, I will sell some).
2. So I can track my prpgress towards my goals. For example I search halves. My goal is to pull 100 oz ASW this year. If I don't, I am going to buy the difference.

I just keep a total of my brinks boxes of copper pennies. The good coins are rolled, and kept seperate. Looking for my next 1909S VDB.

I look around at all the penny crap laying everywhere. No records needed or wanted really.

That's how I roll, hehe.

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I am pretty sparse at keeping records. Learned people like to use it against you. I figure it is there or it isn't.

Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended.
