I went to a new bank today to get cents.
The teller said that they had them in the vault, but that I would have to wait for the vault teller. We chatted while i was waiting and I noticed that her quarter tray was full of silver quarters. They were canadian. I saw one that looked different from the rest. She noticed it was silver after she had agreed to sell all $7 worth to me. It was a 1962.
Another was a 1973 with a mounty on it. Are they worth a premium?
After that she said, I have some canadian nickels. I bought all 6. they were all pre 1980.
Lastly, I got a box of pennies

There is a variety for the 1973 R.C.M.P quarter.
From the 2009 Charlton Canadian Coins book -
Large Bust - VF-20 @ $150, EF-40 @ $200, AU-50 @ $300, up from there. Small Bust is valued at face.
Total mintage is 135,958,589...Charlton indicates that the quantity of the LB struck for circulation is believed not to exceed 10,000.
The LB variety was struck with the 1972 obverse. The SB variety is a new obverse with fewer rim denticles placed farther from the rim. On the LB variety the denticles are very close to the rim.
I really love the Charlton book...hope this helps.
This is my 100th post!!! Two stars!!!

Thanks for the info. At one time, I had a dozen of these quarters. I spent most of them, then realized that they might have a premium. Looks like i should give the ones I have a closer look.
Congrats on the second star. |
