Has anyone thought to put coppers in copper tubes, seal them, and sell the tubes as scrap copper. You would not be melting or defacing the pennies. And you are selling copper to the junk yard, so you're not lying.
Thoughts?

The scrap yard would surely question the heft of the tube/bar.

lus it is against the law.

Plus, it's more work than its worth; it's not cost effective.

You would not just turn in one tube. You would mix it up with other scrap.

They look through your scrap to make sure there is not a lot of plastic and other junk mixed in. They are particular about what they will accept as #2 Copper. Talked with my metals dealer today. He said they might be willing to take my Canadian copper as scrap since it is foreign and not illegal to melt.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more.

Yurp, in my experience the scrap yard is pretty perticular about copper and will inspect it pretty closely. You're better off selling your pennies legally on ebay. I love ebay, lol.
