When I gave a mini lesson on food storAge at a cert class a couple of people said they wanted to know where I live so they could come to my place in an emergency. I told them they had to get their own food storage. However my sister and I are teaming up together.
The teacher sharing the room with my dd's class refuses to prepare. She prefers to "follow the schools plan". Shell be begging for my dd's class's supply when an emergency arises. |

Why would they come to me? I do not advertise what I have or have not. And if TS really has HTF, I might not be here, or social anyway!!
That is seriously the last thing I want is a bunch more people to be responsible for, or more mouths than I am prepared for. Most people just do not have the skills to make it worthwhile to take on in a crisis situation.
Plus in a true bad crisis situation, ANYONE you let in YOU ARE TRUSTING WITH YOUR LITERAL LIFE. What happens if they leave the backdoor unlocked one night and 4-8 armed friends of theirs who also didn't prepare, are weren't disciplined enough to preserve what they have, want YOUR stuff/food/fuel/guns/ammo/spouse/kids/gold/gummy bears/etc etc. That's a rough time to find out you were wrong about someone. Or that they were deceived, or blackmailed, or something.
Uh, nobody has really said that they would seek me out, but a few have said they would want me around,  . |

I've really stopped discussing the possibility/likelihood of SHTF situations with all but a very select group of friends and family. Most sheeple cannot be awoken, let them sleep. If you give them any indication that you have made preparations, they will be at your door at the first sign of SH'ing TF demanding what they are "entitled" to.

this topic is not for current people, because many of us do not say anything anymore to anyone. it is for in the beginning when you did say something. or, like in survivalistboard.com this one guys sheeple family came over and discovered what he had and blabbed it to his whole family. bad mouthing him and everything. still using his generator to take a nice warm shower in the dead of winter because the power had been out for a couple of days. inconsiderate buggers. |

Its a difficult balance to strike. On one hand I have friends and family that I care about and on the other I don't want to broadcast what I'm doing. I have suggested to some of them that "having a little extra food might not be a bad idea" So its possible that some people may surmise that I have extra stores. It is a risk but I believe its a one I have to take. If things get bad, I plan to give away about 10% to 20% of what I have. I don't think this country will survive if we all hole up and eat Spam for a year. The trick is to be charitable without tipping my hand.

| I've noticed that when I share about this stuff, my fellow Christians at church are the most receptive and talk to me about their stash of firearms and wilderness hideouts. My family and co-workers are the goats that are still being herded. They look at me with big doe eyes and wonder how I turned to such doom and gloom. |

Be very, very careful, my friend. Remember that Jesus told His disciples to be "as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves" (Matthew 10). Even in our congregations, there are people who are just there to take advantage of others--a sad fact in this sinful world. Challenge and encourage your fellow church members to start stocking up for hard times because stocking up is the wise thing to do, especially in these uncertain times. Talk to your pastor about not just establishing a food bank (if one doesn't already exist), but more importantly ask him to encourage everyone in the congregation to start stocking up so that they may be in a position to help others. If your pastor doesn't listen to this admonition, search for other pastors in your town who ARE receptive to what you're saying, and ask them to start encouraging people to stock up to provide for themselves, their family and anyone they might find themselves in a position to be charitable to.

The best way I have to find the sheeple is to spend half dollars. They are the best:
"Is this money?" They ask me. If I were giving it to them would they think I was the expert.
"Do they still make these?"
"What is this?"
"This must be fake."
"We don't take Canadian money."
It really does bring out the best in folks.
Dollar coins do something similar but not near as fun. |
