Prior to Y2K I purchased several empty 55 gallon drums,cleaned and filled them with #1 kerosene(clear). It wont break down. I am still using it seasonally and am down to approx. 30 gals.
I also purchased four 6gal.jeep gas cans W/bonus 2 1/2 gal.cans attached. I use the grocery/gas discount promos to maximize savings when filling them. I use the stored gas to refill my tank while earning points until I need to refill. Store gas in building away from primary residence.

Thanks for the real-life experience note with the Kerosene. It's always good to hear what someone actually did, especially when it worked out.

Pachuko - welcome newbie I bought some of the five gallon plastic containers, got myself a generator. Hope TSHTF never makes me use them
