I am very competitive.. but figured my chances of becoming the leader on the Buffalo hunter board were about the same as being mauled by both a polar bear and a regular bear on the same day.
All that changed Friday night. I had a day like Buffalo Bill. I let one of my banks talk me into taking all their CWR nickels on Friday afternoon.. 175 rolls! 174 rolls had nothing.. but one I found towards the end had an entire herd in it.. 31 Hides! With the one I found earlier, that gives me 32 hides for the year.. a good start for the season. The same roll also yielded 5 War Nickels.  |

Hey.. I was agonna let the polar bear chomp first.

1 WN
1 Buffalo - Must have been a straggler from the herd I coralled Friday. He was a bit older.. 1928.. so he probably couldn't keep up with the rest of the herd. This brings my total herd for the year up to 33. They tapped me for 25 more rolls today.. and said they will have a bunch more for me tomorrow.

They do roam in herds.
I found a dateless buff on my last handful for the day, and read they run in herds so I decided to grab one more handful. Yep, another dateless buff.
Two more buffs for the day (3 for 2010). I will finishing sorting bag tomorrow and hopefully its a big herd.
I wish more buffs had dates. I have been sorting nicks for about three months. 7 buffs and only 2 readable dates |

8 more bags to go. I have trouble keeping up with nickels.
Pennies ryedale takes care of. Dimes side check is quick.
Nickels take time. |

I agree.. nickels are really slow for me too. That bank talked me into 25 more rolls the other day. Imagine my disappointment when there were no hides in there. |

none of my cus will sell me bags. in fact i have had one tell me they cannot sell me cwr. while one bank will not sell me boxes, as they are reserved for merchants.
so, i take what i can , where i can .
