Lately, I've ran across 2 Wheaties that have been defaced in an unusual way....both have been cut down in size to the size of a dime. IS it common to find such coins? I guess way back in the 50's when cigarettes were a .10 a pack, one did this to feed cigarette machine.....

I just found one of these yesterday, it looked as though someone made it into an octagon, by just snipping the edge with some sort of cutter, looked as though it had been done years ago, the cuts certainly were not fresh. I cant recall if it was a wheat or not but it was certainly a copper.
I also found three pennies yesterday that had a hole drilled through the center of them, these however appeared to have been done somewhat recently, the cuts were fresh looking and two were in zincs, one in copper.

visit www.crazycoinguy.com
for information on how to sort, what to sort, and sorting equipment. We also sell copper pennies in bulk, and other coins.

Over the years, I have seen a few.

It happened to the Memorial cents too. Last week, I found a 1962-D cent that was cut down to the size of a dime.

I have seen several also. I always assumed they were to take advantage of old vending machines. Now we know they are to fool the coin counters for snappy's dime bags.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

I have to admit, back in '62 and '63 me and the gang from East Stroudsburg, PA used to spend many a Saturday afternoon "sanding" Pennies on the sidewalk until they were the diameter and thickness of a dime. Worked great in the pop and candy machines at the gas stations in the area.

There's profit if you melt things!!
