I think we may be competing against each other in the DC area. I have been finding a number of skunked boxes and many marked coins. So far I have encountered 2 other people near me in Washington DC area that are on this forum doing this.

So i was thinking, maybe we should coordinate to use the same dump bank. Obviously not the same branch. I use PNC because they have alot of branches near me and they have a very good and easy to use free coin counter.

This way if we all use the same bank we aren't dumping in another members pickup bank.

To tell you the truth this may work for half searchers in the mid atlantic as well. i am sure half distribution systems aren't entirely localized. If we all (memebers in Virginia, Maryland, DC, PA, West Virginia and Delaware use the same bank for dumps then we aren't dumping on each other. hence in theory bettering each of our odds.

What do you guys think?

I search $3000 in halves each week. I'm searching in an area about an hour south of the NVA/DC. I never mark the halves - too much of a waste of time. I've seen some heavily marked halves, but most marks are on the edges of the coins.

I'm getting my halves from Brinks (BB&T Bank), bullet rolls in boxes. I dump at another bank (Union Bank) which uses Dunbar. All my dump branches have counting machines so I don't have to roll the halves back up. This way I don't get my dumps back, but I may be getting yours.

I believe it's which service your banks use rather than which bank you use that counts. What service does PNC use? What service does your source bank use?

Which company's do Wacovia and TD use? I used to use TD bank but their coin machine is a pain because when you dump alot of halves their bag fills up. i have had better luck with PNC when I am dumping $500 or more.

i just saw the sorting map. that would have helped in my mission to coordinate this had I seen it earlier!

Also Crulean (sp?) I think we spoke about this before, but what part of Arlington are you in? You didn't use the TD bank in Clarendon right?

I'm not a major sorter -about 5 rolls a day/ 3 days per week- so it really wouldn't help much by me posting my dump bank. I think we should come up with a logo to mark our rolls with, for THE DC AREA SILVER SEARCHER'S ALLIANCE. The name might be a little much, but a "universal" roll mark would benefit everyone.
