Poll Question:
I have encountered a lot of damaged and corroded pre 1982 cents. I have been storing all 1959-1981 together regardless of condition, However, I have decided to cull them out, and store them separately before my accumulation gets too large.
What do you do with them?

| I run such a relatively small number of culls in the copper category that I just throw them in there anyway. Chances are when it's time to liquidate, whichever way is appropriate, a few hundred culls in the mix won't affect anything. |

I mix in many, but some are so bad I throw them out, and some I put in with the zincs. I see some that I don't want to touch at all, wet gooey red or black crap..... sorry, I don't touch that if I can avoid it, and if not I don't plan to touch it twice. |

Copper culls, I keep, cuz they're still bullion. I suppose if I ever sold some bulk copper, I would take note of how often I run across one, because I would not want there to be too many mixed in. Just wanna build up a reputation for having good product, basically.
Zinc culls, I throw back into the dump pile, unless I think it might cause a problem with their machine. I don't want to damage their stuff. I previously lived in a town where my bank had a lobby coin machine, and I brought stuff in there all the time. One day I took in my dump and the machine had an OUT OF ORDER sign on it. It sat that way for 2-3 months because, in their words, "it's a customer perk. It doesn't make us money, so it is a rather low priority to pay to have it fixed." So yeah... if a cull is that bad, throw that dog out!
Foreign culls, or whatever else, I take to the next coin show and throw them in one of the dealers' 10-cent "junk" boxes. Sometimes without telling him. |

| Copper is copper. They just get mixed in. When you sell by weight, culls don't matter |

Once (or "if") the melt ban gets lifted, they'll all go into the melting pot just the same. I keep them together. |
