Hi All,
I have the chance to purchase $1k of Ikes from a collector. Is anyone interested in these? I would only be taking the silver ones.

| I think that without the silvers one the rest are not worth the time and shipping cost. You might get a small percentage over face but not that much maybe 5 to 10% over |

If you bring them to the Fun show I'll take them at a tiny premium over face from you.
Otherwise, ebay is the only chance to get over face after shipping and from what I've seen that is somewhat of a crap-shoot. |

| I did see someone sell 100.00 worth for 150.00 on E-Bay. they probably ended uup with 135.00 or so after fees. free shipping knockes is down to 125.00. its a gamble. if you are buying at face you are not out any money. How do you know the seller hasn't alredy pulled the silver? |

I don't know if the seller has pulled them. But i'd be getting them at face so it's a loss of time & energy worst case.
Barry where/what is the 'fun show'?
Toomuchcopper - we're talking about 1000 ike coins. quality unknown.

I'll know if i can get them this weekend. believe it or not the seller seems eager to just cash them out somewhere, so there may not be any silver here. |

| you know that you can always give them to the bank for face value, so why the worry, buy them.....pull the silver then put them on here with an auction starting at face plus shipping and see what happens..if they dont sell dump at the bank...its a no-brainer |

The FUN is Florida Numismatic show.
If you can get them for face value get them and spend them. That would at least make people think. |

| If your in the Illinois area there are 4 coin shows a Month just outside the Chicago area. There is one dealer at all those shows that specializes in those Ike coins. If you need info on those shows just type in Illinois coin shows in Google. |

well i'd love to hit Chicago up but i'm not that close by. Not close to FL either. The reason i'm hesitant to buy them and return them to the banks is these coins can't go through the machines, and i can just see the teller's face if i were to drop off an odd number of these old large dollar coins.
But they aren't going anywhere fast from the buyer so i'll probably take them off his hands sure enough. |

There is always some *cough* sucker who will take them off your hands for face.
All the local banks will take them as a deposit. Yes they groan a little.
All my banks love when I come in.."oh Mr 0CD, we have IKE's for you!"
They feel much better when I relieve them.
Occasionally I find a proff in the batch and once some Peace dollars.
Don't expect silver if you buy these.
Some Ebay types buy them for $1.20 I hear.
I just like them.

| I have a collection of them, and kind of keep an eye out for BU examples. I have a full Business strike set, all blue packs and 3 brown box. I still need the Proofs and 1 brown box. |

Pull the silver
Put together some complete sets and try to sell them
Worst case dump the rest at the bank. |
