oh, sorry. i had to look it up. A MAG is a MUTUAL AID GROUP.

from survivalblog's author himself. in his book PATRIOT they have formed a mutual aid group. each person contributes the same amount. either they buy a certain amount of food over time or they put in money for their treasury fund. in this case, the story, they all had to pay monthly fees. buy a uniform, practice drills, buy lts foods., etc...

some stories have the group members needing to buy a year's worth of food within a year to be a full member.
those aid groups that actually included arms were considered militias by the government. those without arms were not.

for me...it would simply be my family and i would put in a certain amount of food to aid each other in tough times.
