I sorted my first box of pennies last weekend and had 27% copper with 7 wheats. Waiting to receive a Ryedale Ace. Also been buying presorted when the price is right. I think I caught the copper bug.
I bought $95 face for $120 from PennyPauper and he paid for for shipping. I thought that was a good price. I would like to have a ton in the next few months. Mostly from purchases, but some from sorting myself.
27% I like that....two boxes last night yielded 16.46%...at this rate I will have to search over seven hundred boxes when I hit the ton plateau...picking up four more boxes in the am. I bought some from MH not to long ago...you can get there alot faster purchasing but then it will cost more than a grand to get there.
Welcome, your copper percentage is pretty good at the upper twenties. I think if your percentage is 20 or below you can't afford to sort your own when you can buy them for 1.2 to 1.3 cents apiece. When you figure in all your time, and gas for getting the pennies, sorting them, taking zincers back and doing it all over again and again. I have a high copper percentage always over 30 percent and I question whether or not it is worth my time to sort when I can buy them as cheap as I can.

It seams like just yesterday that I sorted my first box. Believe me it is habit forming. Especially when you find a expensive coin while sorting. It just makes you want to sort more.
