Poll Question:
How many copper pennies do you guys actually hoard?

Choices:

Less than 5,000
5,001-10,000
10,001-25,000
25,000-50,000
50,000-100,000
More than 100,000

Must hoard more......

No offense but this is a really poorly designed poll.

Probably 95% of members here have over $1,000 face value hoarded. Less than that isn't a hoard it's a couple trips to the bank :)

How much money do you have in the bank and under the mattress ?

Whats that you say...?

None of my business...?

Well, that's how I feel about your poll, as I'm sure others do also...

Barrytrot that is simply not true.
If you take a look at some of the similar polls like "what is the face value of your hoard" more than half answered between 0 and 200 dollars.
So why don't you leave it to the poll to answer the question.

p.s.
For future reference though, this is a GREAT way to put off new members.

Ok, I stand corrected. I do agree this is generally a "put off" though.

I might have a couple or three.

*Sorts pennies every day*

Can anyone who does not sort pennies every day be a serious hoarder?

HBCTT, I sort every day, just not as many as you. 8 boxes are sorted every other Friday. All other days, just a couple of cents in loose change. Now if you are actually acquiring boxes every day, I salute you.

Just my two cents!

Perhaps a better poll would be to ask how much one wants to hoard as a goal. Of course the obvious answer is "as much as one can get his or her hands on," but I realistically would like to someday have 55 gallons, enough to fill an industrial strength garbage canister. I would love to see somebody try to steal that many loose pennies. It would take a shovel, a lot of buckets, and probably more time than a thief would want to spend on such a task.

Just my two cents!

I don't think anyone at all would even try to steal that many pennies, they'd go for the silver instead. They'd get caught cuz it would be too noisy and get caught

lol at the numbers. 100000 pennies or 1000.00fv.

with those numbers the question should be 'how many to u sort a day?

I am with HCBTT...if u aren't sorting everyday you are not hoarding. and it takes a lot to keep several ryedales running at one time.

that is all I am going to say

You don't have to be the BEST you just have to be.......SLICK

Copper? I have no copper....

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I'd like to get my hands on 10 tons, but w/o a ryedale or a high-paying job (still in high school) it doesn't seem like it is going to happen.

I hope you have no where near 10 tons if you are still in high school. Unless you already have your own place, think it through. I would hate to have leave my hoard at my parents because 10 tons would not be fun to try to move.

Just my two cents!

I posted a similar pole about four months ago with a higher range (10k to 1 million) and I was told that I was aiming too low. Apparantly several members here count their copper in tons.

You must be logged in to see this link.

Although I don't think Barry is correct, I do believe that most here have more than 10,000 pennies. A fast handsorter can gather that much in a couple weeks.

Finally, I think these polls are helpful in matching your progress with that of others. If you feel that its too invasive then don't respond.

From an economic standpoint, that stuff is probably a better long-term bet than copper pennies. Just look at the percent increase over the last couple years. And its much more liquid if you live in a state with shows.

You'd wear your arm out in this forum. No Joke.
Some unnamed individuals do pickups in the 50 box range.
