Zinc Dimes, Tungsten Gold & Lost Interest by Jim Willie, CB. Editor, Hat Trick Letter | November 18, 2009
(Zinc Dimes? )
"In 1964 the USGovt introduced the zinc dimes clad with silver. They at least admitted the debauchery publicly. Now pre-1964 silver coins are all considered different, and valued differently too, higher."
Dimes (and quarters) as we all know are not zinc clad with silver, they have a copper core with cupronickel on its outside as its composition. A verification check from the US Mint, coinflation, or a Whitman Red Book would prove this. Even if the internet or red book were to be discounted, a post 1964 dime can still be examined for scientific purposes (damaging one or two dimes in the name of science isn't illegal.)
A hacksaw taken to a dime proves that the content is copper, not zinc.
I feel this lack of basic fact checking is the type of thing that will effect Mr. Willie's credibility, though how little or how much effect it will have is debatable.

| Even if he meant that dimes minted in 1964 only were silver clad zinc the weight would have been different the same way copper clad zinc cents weigh less than copper cents. |

| I decided to see of this was some sort of mint error or something so I googled the phrase "zinc dimes". Wille is the only person who has ever written anything on this - but boy does he have a lot of syndicated content! Pages and pages of results. How can I get that kind of syndication for my accurate work? |

you need to be more dramatic, predict doom and gloom, and use bold, all caps, italics, and underline liberally. |
