I have a couple 2 ft long well pumps. One is extremely heavy and the other is the same size and came from the same well but isn't quite as heavy.
How should I proceed? I just figgired as heavy as they were.. I just figured as heavy as they were.. I might get lucky..

| Like hobo said, turn them in as electric motors. Cut off any wire you can if there is any dangling. I get .15 a lb here today. |

| Thanks for the help. I going to try hand at recycling. I never turned anything in, but I have a nice clean cache copper as a start. I'm mostly a detectorist that runs in to stuff from time to time. I need to learn how not to get rip'd off. This site is full of nice information. |

IF it's easy to open up AND IF the Copper windings are easy to remove you'll do better separating the Cu from the Fe.
I've played with one of those torpedo pumps, mine was not easy to open and not easy to remove the Cu windings. I'd have been better off selling it as a scrap motor.
