Looking for a scale. Nothing fancy. Troy ounce capable, metric etc. Any suggestions appreciated.

I have one that I am very pleased with - it does carats, troy oz, av oz, grams, etc out to one-hundredth of a ounce. A "US Velocity 150g Jewelry Scale" It was only $35 at a local head shop (its the only place that had them locally - don't laugh, haha).
Found one for only $25 on E-bay: You must be logged in to see this link. |

I'm with you AG...the only place I could find a decent one was a head shop! Cupro- I think the most important feature that you'll need is a scale's ability to go out to a tenth of a gram (0.0g). Great for weighing '82 pennies and scrap. |

On a suggestion from a high-end coin store, I found one for $20 at a Harbor Freight store. They had a cheaper one but this one is nice - digital, converts to various measures & has a nice slide-over cover making it easy to slip in a shirt pocket. (Sorry I don't have the name of it - I am out of town with the misses!) It has measured many 82 cents for me & it is well on its way to paying for itself! Good luck! |

I would recommend staying away from the radio shack brand "Nexxtech". My scale started displaying an error message when starting up that can only be solved by holding it in a certain position for a while. Eventually I'll replace it but for now it seems to weigh things correctly so I haven't bothered. Any recommendations on a scale that can be dropped a few times and won't go weird? |

Oh, I thought you meant lbs. Anyway, an old Deteco baby scale works great for weights up to 30 pounds. I store my coppers in Brink boxes that weigh 15 lbs. |

I got the US Velocity scale. Perfect with a known 1/4 oz coin! .250 reading on the first try. If you bump the table, it will go off a .001 to .003. If you breath on it it will register the change. Just shut it off and start over. PERFECT! Love it! Many thanks

Scale was Ok until now. I hit the CAL button by accident (buttons are tiny). Very lame manual says I need a standard 100 g calibration weight to calibrate it. It won't work without this and the calibration weight was not included. This sucks. |
