Poll Question:
Taken from this site-> 2010 Penny Design, the below 8 options are up for vote.
Which do you prefer to be the next design? An explanation would be nice, but not neccessary. Also, the last option is if you like another design that is not amoung those listed. If you choose to vote for "none of these" then tell us which one you do like.
Please look at the lower right corner of each image on the link provided above for reference to the below choices:

| I also like LP-18 the best, but it has already been eliminated so I voted for LP-01 just because I like the unique angle of the Capitol Building. I do not like LP-12 or LP-13. |
Just my two cents! |

I like LP-18, too. My first thought was that it looks a lot like the Weimar coinage. I clicked on the link and it turns out that was the reason why it was rejected:
"Although the Commission of Fine Arts chose this as their design recommendation, it was later removed from consideration due to similarities with German coins issued during the 1920’s and 1930’s."
Erm, I know they want to avoid any hint of a Nazi connection, but the Weimar Republic ended when Hitler came to power in 1933. The years of the republic (1919-1933) were a time of great political and economic turmoil, but artistically/culturally/scientifically, Germany flourished.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, though. Maybe the design was rejected because of its association with a period of hyperinflation in another country.
Anyway, my runner up choice is LP-13. |

| I like LP-1 with the new perspective look of the Lincoldn Memorial. I think it sticks to the original design some respect but at the same time offers a fresh new look at a newly designed penny. |

That's actually the Capitol building, but I like the perspective as well. What I don't like about it is the font. I'm not a fan of anything serif. Too many papers in Times New Roman I guess...
I still prefer the Capitol over the shield, flag, or eagle, so I voted for LP-02 (with much nicer sans-serif lettering ).

I voted 17, but I like 15 better. I liked 11 because I'd like to see Lady Liberty return to our coinage (and out lives), but wasn't too thrilled with the design. Tired of dead presidents. (Like Franklin portrait but he wasn't a president) I also could like 14 and maybe 16.
Wow! Artful good looking coinage! What a concept! |

I voted for LP-02 as I think it combines old with new. I know it is the capitol building rather than the LM but this design reminds me of the wheat cent and the LMC prior to 2009. When I first saw these new designs the ONE CENT on LP-02 jumped out at me just as the words always did on the wheat cents. And, like others on here, I really like the angle of the capitol building.
So that's my opinion.
Enjoy. |

14 or 18!
Most symetrical and traditional designs. |

| Out of the ones they are actually considering I am hoping for 13 or 17. |

I like 14. A lot of nice designs, but I'm not excited about looking at more buildings. It would be nice to 'go back to' a design (like 14) which has the numerical value as part of the design, a.k.a. the two cent piece, some 3 cent pieces, the Liberty nickle, etc.
But, I guess we'll all take what we get, like it or not

Went with LP1, I bet this would pop in a proof... But If I could pick anyone, I would go with LP14.
Now if the US mint was smart, they could have let the collectors decide, by making commemorative dollars or half dollars of these, which ever sells the most becomes the design... |

| I would vote for LP-14. I like a shield coin and it is better than the other two shield coins. |

It is the Statue of Freedom...

The Statue of Freedom (1857-62) — sometimes called Armed Freedom or simply Freedom — is Thomas Crawford's bronze statue that, since 1863, has crowned the dome of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The original and formal name of the work was Freedom Triumphant in War and Peace. Official United States government publications say that now the statue "is officially known as the Statue of Freedom".
