Hey all,
I am about 15 rolls into a new penny box, and it is riddled with silver-colored coins. Some standard fare, such as a 1992 20 Groszy, 1996 Eire 5P, and a 2000 Australian nickel.
What I would like help with is details on this coin. Obverse 1843, DG Danle VG Rex, Christianus VIII. Reverse 2 and 1/2 Schill, 8 Rigsbank Skilling. I have been unable to find a picture of it on the internet.
Picture to follow.

Have you looked at the World Coin Book?
Unfortunately I only have the one dated 1900-1999 but it has come in very handy.
I know there is one for 1800-1900.
They are $30 books but if you buy one just for the pictures and for identifying, you would not have to buy one every year.
Its a good reference to have on hand. |

from what i can find, it's from denmark
this is from wikipedia, hope its of some help
The Danish currency system established in 1625 consisted of 12 pfennig = 1 skilling, 16 skilling = 1 mark, 6 mark = 1 rigsdaler and 8 mark = 1 krone.[1] From 1713, two separate systems coexisted, courant and species, with courant being a debased currency also used for banknote issue. The rigsdaler species contained 4#8260;37 of a Cologne mark of fine silver (i.e., 9¼ rigsdaler species equalled one Cologne mark).
In 1813, following a financial crisis, a new currency system was introduced, based on the rigsbankdaler. This was divided into 96 rigsbank skilling and was equal to half a rigsdaler species or 6 rigsdaler courant.
A further change was made in 1854. The rigsdaler species name disappeared and the names rigsbankdaler and rigsbank skilling became rigsdaler and skilling rigsmønt. Thus, there were 96 skilling rigsmønt to the rigsdaler. |

I just looked at the Wikipedia page. Sounds like this was a combination currency for Denmark and Schleswig-Holstein. I am hoping to get some valuation on this coin. I likewise am very interested in knowing its metal content.
After opening the entire box, I found another 2002 20 Groszy, another 1996 Eire 5P, and now a 1993 Singapore dime. |

| Apmex picture is definitely the same line of coin. I like the price tag on that one. Reverse looks much cooler on mine. Similar wear on both. |

| Were there none listed on ebay? If not, is there a local coin dealer you trust? Sometimes, I take coins into my local coin dealer to help with the grade and value. |
