I ordered two Rhodium Coins from Cohen Mint on July 21, 2009. Still waiting.

Paid with paypal which means I should be protected. Filed a dispute for non-delivery. Cohen Mint sent paypal a tracking number from the US Postal Service. Here's what the tracking number says:

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on August 11, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. No further information is available for this item.

What the heck kind of tracking number is this??

Paypal says the package is enroute and closes case. I had to reopen it several weeks later for non-delivery of product. Paypal now is investigating whether it was shipped and if anyone signed for it. Tracking number indicates it was never shipped. I have to wait until the end of September for a decision. Cohen mint is still accepting orders for Rhodium Coins and is still using paypal. They also raised the price of the coins. I'm trying to get my money back.

How funny (not really). I ordered mine on July 31. I called him several times. I emailed him.

No response, no return call.

I issued an American Express chargeback moments ago (prior to seeing this posting).

I would recommend the same for the 2 of you since I received no response whatsoever.

I had the same thing with a different date.

This simply means that he used the paypal "print label". That means NOTHING other than a label has been printed on the computer.

Since that is the status of the tracking that means that he never actually dropped it off for pickup! In almost a full month, that's ridiculous!

Paypal is a nightmare. Don't fall for the "you are protected" hype. They take forever to take action. I may have to call my credit card company and ask them to issue a chargeback against paypal. This outfit (Cohen) really stinks.

UPDATE: Just got a FULL REFUND from Paypal. They said it should have been refunded long ago but Cohen Mint issued a USPS Tracking number (intention to ship) via paypal and this kicked it back for review. The tracking number tracked nothing.

I wonder what the US Postal Service policy is in regards to issuing tracking numbers.

Glad to here you got your money.

Here is my question: If you are marketing coins that cost you around $25 for $99 and people are willing to BUY THEM. Why not just sell them and have a nice little business? I don't get the problem here? Cohen has a nice Niche market and he is blowing it!

I was just getting ready to order one but now I don't think so.
I really hope he sees this so he can respond.
I sent him an e-mail so hopefully he will provide a reason.

I was a dealer for Cohen products at one time. Seemed like a decent enough guy, but I have been trying to reorder products for 6 months and nobody will respond to my emails. I placed an order for two copper bars through the website on 8/17, sent an email on 9/6 to check on the status, but haven't heard anything. I got a promotional email on 8/24 advertising the Rhodium coins. They seem eager to take orders, just not to answer questions or actually ship the coins...

I wonder if the webmaster of Goldwhy.com has had any dealings with him lately.
Anyone successfully contacted him?

One final comment:

The person on the phone at PAYPAL did not hesitate to refund my money. It took forever to get a Human on the phone but once I did it went smooth. The refund was INSTANT once they looked at the dispute. No problem at all.

The webmaster of Goldwhy to see if he has made any purchases from The Cohen Mint recently, and how they turned out.

I can tell you from personal experience that this message doesnt necessarily mean that they never shipped. I have had plenty of packages that does not get updated information until item is delivered. They may have shipped it but the post office never scanned the item which would result in the message being displayed until someone scans it. My post office cannot scan Paypal labels fro whatever reason so the item displays that message for days at a time until someone scans the label

Im not saying they are or are not at fault but it is possible they shipped it and the post never scanned it upon receipt. People have to alwyas remember that Delivery Confirmation is not meant for tracking packages while it goes through the post system, it is mean to only show, as the service implies, Delivery Confirmation.

The post is not required to scan the item upon first receipt however they must scan it at the final destination.

The PayPal customer service person took one look at the vendor (Cohen Mint) and apologized to me. The refund was instant. No questions asked.

Cohen Mint does not answer the phone, does not return phone messages and does not reply to emails.

Maybe something has happened to the owner? I hope not, but it is a possibility.

Anything is possible. This also assumes he is a one person operation and nobody else works at Cohen Mint. One things for sure; he's still accepting internet orders and he's raised the price of the One Gram Rhodium coins to $91.99.

When first introduced the coins were $99.95, then they dropped by about $10. I got an email from them on 8/24 encouraging me to "buy cheap rhodium now" so they are still actively promoting the business.

Hmmm. Funny I received so much flak when I questioned this coin/dealer for customer service/delivery issues in a previous thread:

You must be logged in to see this link.

I hope you guys get this resolved correctly and in a timely manner. If Paypal is now refunding with one look at the seller, then that does not sound good at all to me.

Due to this deal, I will NEVER deal with this company. I don't care what he's selling, no matter how "new" or "cutting edge" or whetever....

You guys keep refering to the owner as a male. Who is Jessica Martell? Says she is the president of the company on the BBB site. The coins are still available according to the site....

Deal

p.s. Due to all this I wonder if the select few who received coins actually received rhodium. Scam from the start or what?

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Good call on your part. I'm glad I got my money back. I wouldn't buy anything from this outfit again either.

I've been on the other end of paypal and I can tell you the buyer protection is pretty good. The seller protection is not very good. I sold something and used the paypal post office label. The post office received my package, but then lost it. Paypal refunded the buy there money. I had no problem with this, but they took the money from me. I gave they buyer the ability to purchase insurance but why should they when they get a refund on lost shipments anyway?

There is another company that makes rhodium coins. They started making them earlier this year. They are more than these coins, but they have more rhodium. They contain about 5.3 grams.
